An investigation into the death of a woman in Regina looks to have not involved “criminal wrongdoing” according to police.
An update from the Regina Police Service says investigators have not found any evidence pointing to a criminal offence after a death investigation was launched on Tuesday when a woman was found dead on the 1300 block of 23rd Avenue.
Investigators have now moved into a support role with the coroners service leading the investigation. More tests will be conducted as investigators work to determine the circumstances of her death.
Police first learned of the situation at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a report of a sick or injured person lying in the snow in front of a building. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Officers confirmed the identity of the deceased person and her next-of-kin were notified. Police say the person’s name will not be released by police at this time.
RPS says anyone who may have information to assist police and the coroners service is asked to contact the Regina Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
