A 43-year-old Regina man is facing multiple charges after evading police in his vehicle while under the influence during a late Wednesday night incident.
Members of the Regina Police Service learned of a dangerous driving incident at around 10:30 p.m. in the area of McCarthy Boulevard and Dewdney Avenue. The caller told police they watched a Chevrolet Impala “weaving into both driving lanes and running two red lights.”
A police unit located the Impala and conducted a traffic stop by activating emergency equipment. The vehicle stopped and then sped away from police. RPS members attempted a second traffic stop which proved to be unsuccessful since the driver evaded police again.
Regina Police says the driver ended up going through nine red lights and six stop signs before he eventually “got stuck” and was arrested without further incident. The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Preston Dean Bowman of Regina has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol or drug, fail or refuse to comply with breach demand, flight from a peace officer and obstruction of a peace officer.
Bowman was released on an undertaking and will be in provincial court on April 12, 2021.
