Sask wholesale trade booming in October

Saskatchewan’s wholesale trade in October jumped 6.7 percent over the previous month, the highest increase among the provinces.

The value of wholesale trade in October reached almost 2.4 billion dollars in Saskatchewan.

Trade and Export Development minister Jeremy Harrison says the big gains show the resiliency of the province’s economy during the global pandemic and a positive sign heading into the new year.

StatsCan wholesale trade figures show October saw year over year wholesale trade rise by 13.5 percent, the second best in Canada.

The national number was up 5.2 percent over the year.

Wholesale trade growth was in food and beverage products, machinery and equipment, and miscellaneous products.

Farm products also saw a 14.7 percent increase year over year.
