Ethan Bear has a new two-year contract in his hockey bag.
The 23-year-old, who comes from the Ochapowace First Nation, inked the contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers late Monday night. It is a deal that will reportedly pay him $1.5 million in the first year and $2.5 in the second year.
Bear appeared in 71 games with the Oilers last season, posting five goals and 16 assists. He ranked third among Oilers defencemen in points (21) and time on ice (21:58). Bear also played in four games during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He came to the Oilers after being drafted by them in the 5th round of the 2015 draft.
