Riders sign five more members of 2020 draft class

Another sign from the Saskatchewan Roughriders that they are preparing for a 2021 CFL season as they have signed five players taken in the 2020 draft one day after announcing the signing of first-round draft pick Mattland Riley.

The team signed the following players today

• Kian Schaffer-Baker (WR – Guelph) – fourth round, 30th overall
• A.J. Allen (LB – Guelph) – fourth round, 35th overall
• Vincent Dethier (DB – McGill) – fifth round, 44th overall
• Jonathan Femi-Cole (RB – Western) – sixth round, 53rd overall
• Jesse Lawson (OL – Carleton) – seventh round, 62nd overall

Schaffer-Baker spent four years at Guelph where in 28 games he had 95 catches for 1,544 yards and eight touchdowns

Allen was a teammate of Schaffer-Baker at Guelph and played 31 games with the Gryphons making 63.5 tackles and five-and-a-half sacks.

Dethier had four interceptions along with forcing two fumbles and recovering six fumles during his college career at McGill.

Femi-Cole came to Western after a season playing in the NCAA with the University of Minnesota.  In eight games, he had 40 carries for 174 yards and five touchdowns.

Lawson played junior football in BC before heading east to play with Carleton.  With the Ravens, he played in nine games and was in the CFL’s top 20 scouting list for much of the 2019 season.
