Three men charged in gun trafficking investigation

Three men are facing charges after an investigation by Regina Police.

During the investigation, police learned about the potential buying and re-selling restricted weapons in the city. The investigation led to a male suspect, who recently purchased four restricted handguns.

On Tuesday, police observed a meeting between the suspect and two other men. After the meeting, police were able to arrest the first suspect at a home on the 3000 block of George Street, in the city’s southeast outskirts. The two other men located at a residence on the 4100 block of Hillsdale Drive, by the U of R.

Due to the potential threat of firearms, the Regina SWAT and K-9 Units assisted in the arrests. Search warrants were executed on the suspects’ vehicles and houses.

Police discovered a large sum of cash, as well as four 9mm. handguns.

As a result, 33-year-old Anthony Lance Swanson has been charged with weapons trafficking. 29-year-old Abdullahi Moalin has been charged with weapons trafficking, possession of a firearm knowing it’s prohibited, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and 2 counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition. 21-year-old Hamza Moalin has been charged with weapons trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a motor vehicle, and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

All three suspects made their first court appearance on Wednesday morning.
