The Regina Police Service has arrested two more individuals involved in Regina’s first murder of 2021, bringing the total number of people charged in this case to four.
20-year-old Bobby Edward Dawson Gray and 22-year-old Peyton Anthony Stevenson, both from Regina, face charges of second degree murder and attempted murder in relation to the homicide of 38-year-old Amber Dawn Wood of Bienfait, Sask.
Stevenson and Gray have also been charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The other two individuals, 29-year-old Justin Englot and 25-year-old Jayden Sanford, were charged by police on Tuesday. The were in court on Tuesday morning with charges of accessory after the fact to murder and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
On the morning of January 16, Wood was in a residence on the 700 block of Athol Street when police and paramedics were sent at 8:10 a.m. to the home. Wood was found with apparent gunshot injuries.
She was rushed to hospital by EMS, but as pronounced dead a short time later.
Sanford and Englot were arrested on Sunday and Monday thanks to efforts by the RPS Major Crimes Unit and other police resources.
On Monday night, police surrounded a home on the 1200 block of Wascana Street where it was believed to be the location of two more suspects in this case. Gray and Stevenson exited the home.
One of the individuals was arrested without incident while the second attempted to flee police on foot. RPS have not confirmed which person attempted to flee, however he was apprehended by a canine team and suffered minor injuries from a dog bite. The injured suspect was treated for his injuries in hospital and brought to RPS detention.
Stevenson and Gray made their first court appearances on their charges Wednesday morning.
