Latest COVID-19 numbers show record number of deaths, recoveries in Saskatchewan

It’s a grim day in Saskatchewan as 13 more residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the total death toll to 239.

One of the deaths was in the 60-69 age group from Saskatoon, three deaths were in the 70-79 age group from the Far North Central, North Central, and Saskatoon zones, and 9 deaths were in the 80+ age range from the Far North East, North Centrak, Southeast, and Saskatoon zones.

In addition to the high death count, the province announced 227 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, bringing the provincial total to 21,338 cases.

The highest case numbers come from Saskatoon with 62, Regina with 50, and 21 in the North Central.

A record number of recoveries were announced Thursday as 816 people recovered from the coronavirus, for a total of 18,000.

The active case count sits at 3,099.

197 people are in hospital, including 166 in inpatient care and 31 people in intensive care.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 286 (23.6 new cases per 100,000 population)

The province administered 2,548 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday, bringing the total number of administered vaccines to 29,781.
