Weyburn upset by Regina’s possible ban on fossil fuel advertising; invites companies to advertise with them

Weyburn’s mayor says residents in his community are upset with a passed motion by Regina city council to possibly ban fossil fuel companies from advertising with the city.

Marcel Roy says he doesn’t want to tell city council how to run Regina, but he has an invitation for energy companies based in the Queen City.

“To the oil companies, and energy companies that have their head offices in Regina, if you’re not feeling appreciated there, well certainly come down to Weyburn,” said Roy. “We’ll accommodate you, we’ll appreciate you. We’re in the heart of oil down here, and the energy sector.”

Roy also praised Premier Scott Moe’s statement on the matter earlier this week, saying it shows the government knows the energy industry is important to the province.
