Pedestrian dies after being hit by bus in Regina

UPDATE – Police say a pedestrian identified as an adult male, has died after being struck by a city bus on Wednesday afternoon in Regina’s downtown area.

The Regina Police Service says they received the call just before 2:00 p.m.

The southbound lanes on the 2300 block of Broad Street between 15th Avenue and College Avenue were shut down following the collision; they have since been reopened.

Police learned a short while after that the victim was declared deceased.

This investigation is ongoing.

Later in the day Wednesday, City Manager Chris Holden released a statement;

“This afternoon, a fatal accident occurred at the mid-block of 2300 Broad Street involving a pedestrian and Regina Transit bus.

We recognize this is a difficult time for all involved and the City of Regina extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.

We commend Emergency Medical Services, Fire & Protective Services and the Regina Police Service for their quick response to the scene.

The City of Regina is committed to full cooperation with the Regina Police Service throughout their investigation. While the matter is under investigation, the City cannot provide any additional comment.”
