Daily COVID-19 numbers show eight new deaths and 194 new cases

Eight more people in Saskatchewan have died as a result of COVID-19.

The latest deaths are someone in their 40’s from the Regina zone, someone in their 60’s from the Regina zone, three people in their 70’s from the east-central, far northeast and northwest regions and three in their 80’s with two coming from the southeast and the other from the far northeast.  This brings the provincial total to 322.

194 new cases are being reported as are 252 recoveries meaning the active case count is at 2,254.  Of those 2,254, 477 are in Regina meaning just over 21 percent of the province’s active cases are in the Regina zone.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (11), Far North Central (2), Far North East (6), North West (26), North Central (10), North East (8), Saskatoon (49), Central West (1), Central East (5), Regina (62), South West (1) and South East (7) zones, with six (6) cases pending residence information.
One case pending residence information has been assigned to the Far North West zone.

185 people are in hospital. 159 people are receiving inpatient care: Far North West (5), Far North East (1), North West (17), North Central (18), North East (2), Saskatoon (58), Central West (1), Central East (12), Regina (42), South Central (1) and South East (2). 26 people are in intensive care: North West (1), North Central (1), Saskatoon (11), Central East (4), and Regina (9).

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 233 (19.1 new cases per 100,000 population).

There were 2,780 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Tuesday bringing the provincial total to 515,292.

When it comes to vaccines, 177 were handed out on Tuesday bringing the provincial total to 35,763.

Saskatchewan’s Pfizer allocation for this week has arrived in Saskatoon (975 doses) and Prince Albert (1,950 doses). The allocations for North Battleford (1,950 doses) and Yorkton (975) are scheduled to arrive by end of the day on Wednesday. Saskatchewan’s Moderna allocation is scheduled to arrive by February 6.
