The preliminary spring runoff outlook for 2021 shows most of southern Saskatchewan with below to well below normal snowmelt runoff potential.
The Water Security Agency says northern areas are looking at normal to above normal potential.
The Agency says much of southern Saskatchewan experienced very dry summer and fall weather last year.
The snowpack is generally below to near normal so far.
An area covering Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Melfort, and dipping as far south as Maple Creek and Val Marie is expected to have below normal runoff.
An area covering Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn and Estevan is looking at well below normal runoff this spring.
Areas of central and northern Saskatchewan, including Kindersley, Lloydminster, Meadow Lake and Nipawin are projected for near normal runoff.
The far southwest, from Cypress Hills to the U.S. border, is also expecting near normal runoff.
The spring runoff outlook could change because there is still 8 to 10 weeks of winter remaining.
