Wheat Growers fear cold weather will hamper grain exports

Western Canadian Wheat Growers applaud the railways for record January grain shipments but worry about the impact from the current frigid weather.

Wheat Growers chair Daryl Fransoo says bitterly cold weather in the past has slowed grain shipments and he fears a repeat this month.

He expects there may be some reduced movement but he hopes it is not severe.

CN moved almost 3 millions of grain last month, the 11th consecutive monthly record.

CP’s January record was 2.2 million tons.
