While many Regina residents were staying in to avoid the cold last week, one man was out and about helping boost vehicles.
Corie Rempel, of Rempel Contracting, successfully boosted 84 vehicles over five days, raising money for a good cause in the process.
“Well, it just came to me Monday morning, the idea,” said Rempel. “Then after discussions with my marketer, we decided to go with the warm up shelter, just to make sure that we could help as many people as possible, staying warm and getting where they need to go.”
Rempel raised $1,681 for the Awasiw- A Place of Hope warming shelter, which he hopes to drop off Tuesday.
He said his phone was blowing up all week, and despite his best efforts, he didn’t get to help everyone.
After a grueling week of attending nearly 100 boosts, Rempel said the only thing on his mind is gratitude.
“I feel overjoyed with the amount of support,” said Rempel. “The amount of support the city has given me during this experience is just overwhelming. I just feel joy, so much joy.”
While he wouldn’t confirm if he’d do it again during the next deep freeze, Rempel said he’s trying to think of all the ways he can help when the time comes.
