The City of Regina is asking for public input when it comes to making the community safe for all.
The City is planning its first ever comprehensive Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) plan in partnership with the Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention. Residents can participate in an online survey to provide their thoughts on the city’s website.
“It gives us a picture of how people are feeling in Regina,” said Dave Slater, who serves as the city’s manager of city projects. “What struggles might be, struggles people might be facing perhaps in the realms of food security or access to housing. And also their perception and experiences within Regina.”
The CSWB plan will require a collective approach to issues such as poverty and inequality, as well as the development of services for people struggling with mental illness, substance use challenges and homelessness.
“This is an opportunity for us to reach out to Regina residents to hear their thoughts and about the personal experiences which are related to this work.”
The City says the final report for the CSWB plan is scheduled to be delivered to city council for consideration by September of this year.
Over the next few months, residents can also expect focused conversations to be hosted within a number of neighbourhoods. These community engagement exercises will seek a broad range of stakeholder groups for participation.
