Sask dietitian named to Canada’s Food Policy Advisory Council

A Saskatchewan registered dietitian is among the 23 people named to the Canadian Food Policy Advisory Council.

Agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau announced the members of the council, a central component of the Food Policy for Canada.

Bibeau says the Canadian Food Policy Advisory Council brings together diverse expertise and perspectives from across the food system, including the agriculture and food sector, health professionals, academics and non-profit groups.

Everyone at the Table is the slogan for the Food Policy for Canada.

The Council will advise the minister on current and emerging food-related issues with a first meeting set for March 4th.

The Covid-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of a strong food system in Canada.

Among those appointed to the Council, Heather Deck, a registered dietitian from rural Saskatchewan.

Also on the Council is the president of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, Mary Robinson of P.E.I.
