RCMP identify 21-month-old toddler in Canora homicide investigation

The victim of a death that happened in Canora has been identified by the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South (MCU-S).

Lorenzo Cote, a 21-month-old male from the Cote First Nation in Kamsack, died on Nov. 21, 2020 in what police are calling a homicide investigation based on information gathered to date.

According to information provided by the Saskatchewan RCMP on Tuesday, multiple units and detachments have become engaged in this investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the child’s death. Numerous interviews and inquiries have been collected by police, and there is video surveillance from a variety of locations that police say establishes “a clear timeline of the events on the day of his death.”

RCMP have also executed a number of warrants and conducted forensic examinations of multiple locations with the help of the Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.

The Saskatchewan RCMP MCU-S is asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact the RCMP, their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers.
