COVID tests for WHL East teams come back negative

The Western Hockey League says no positive COVID-19 cases were found in the first round of testing for teams in the Eastern Division that are supposed to begin play on March 12 in Regina.

428 tests were given to members of the Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors, Prince Albert Raiders, Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades, Swift Current Broncos, and Winnipeg ICE.

The league says testing was administered twice to all members of the team delegations of players and staff. All members were tested once upon arrival in the WHL Hub Center in Regina, and a second time after a mandatory quarantine period in the WHL Hub Center.

As a result of no positive tests, the teams are now in a position to commence with team on-ice practices.
