Provincial unemployment rate goes up slightly

Saskatchewan no longer has the lowest unemployment rate in the country.

Figures from Statistics Canada on Friday morning show the provincial rate is 7.3 percent in February which is up from a January figure of 7.2 percent.  That puts Saskatchewan fourth behind Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia.

The numbers show 2,300 more people found work in the last month, but the numbers also show Saskatchewan remains below its employment total from the same time last year as there are still over 23,000 fewer people in Saskatchewan that are working.

The youth unemployment rate sits at 14.4 percent.
