Two men facing weapons charges after traffic stop in Regina

On Thursday, Regina Police conducted a traffic stop near 11th Avenue and Lacon Street, where police noticed a firearm in the vehicle.

Both occupants, a 36-year-old man, and a 30-year-old man were detained for possession of a firearm. Ammo was also found in the vehicle.

The 36-year-old man was also arrested on a warrant issued by the RCMP. The 30-year-old man was also arrested in relation to a recent break and enter assault with a weapon.

36-year-old Lester Wayne Favel, and 30-year-old Thomas Grant Justin Riel have been charged with the careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession unauthorized, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Favel has also been charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

Both Favel and Riel are scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon
