Province expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to 70+ on Monday, drive-thru clinic opening in Regina

The province is expanding its COVID-19 vaccine booking eligibility once again.

Starting Monday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority Patient Booking System will now include residents 70 years of age and older provincially, and residents between 50-69 years of age in the province’s north.

People meeting this criteria can book their appointment online 24/7 using their health card at www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-vaccine; or call 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Booking online is not available for residents in the North at this time. Individuals meeting this criteria are invited to now book their vaccination by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

A map of the affected area and the communities within it can be found at: https://www.saskatchewan.ca/business/first-nations-metis-and-northern-community-businesses/economic-development/northern-administration-district.

In Regina, a drive-thru clinic will also open for those aged 64 only, who wish to receive the AstraZeneca shot.

On Sunday Health Canada said that Canada has not received any AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines that were part of the batch under investigation for blood clots, resulting in the suspension of the vaccine in some countries.

The clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Vaccines will be given on a first come, first serve basis, no appointments can be made for the drive-thru clinic.

Again on Monday it will be only for those who are 64 (born between March 16, 1956 and March 15, 1957).

Health officials are currently working on expanding availability of the AstraZeneca vaccine to a wider age range in the Regina area.

Additional details will be announced in the coming days.
