Sask. RCMP charge husband in death of Cindy MacKay with first-degree murder

The Saskatchewan RCMP has arrested the suspect in the murder of Cindy MacKay in an incident that happened in February 2020 in Meota.

38-year-old Michael MacKay, who was the husband of Cindy MacKay, faces one count of first-degree murder. Officers arrested him without incident on Thursday in Warman in relation to her death.

It was Feb. 7, 2020 when Cindy MacKay was transported to hospital in medical distress. She died in hospital on Feb. 12, 2020.

In a release from police, it was health care professionals who first raised concerns of her death to the RCMP, which opened an investigation.

MacKay makes his first court appearance on Friday in the North Battleford Provincial Court via telephone.
