Phase Two of COVID-19 vaccination plan begins Thursday for residents 67 and older

Booking for COVID-19 vaccines will now be eligible for Saskatchewan residents over the age of 67 years of age or older as of noon Thursday, officially beginning Phase Two of the Vaccine Delivery Plan.

The booking will also be open to those considered clinically extremely vulnerable, as well as select congregate living settings such as group homes for those with intellectual disabilities and emergency shelters.

The clinically extremely vulnerable residents will receive a letter with instructions for booking appointments.

Booking can be done online or by phoning 1-833-SASK-VAX (727-5829).

“This move into Phase 2 is ahead of the anticipated schedule but with the vaccine and the ability to move forward swiftly we do not want to delay,” Health Minister Paul Merriman said in a news release. “This achievement is great news for our residents and our province as every vaccination delivered brings us one day closer to returning to normal.”

The province is also introducing Special Vaccination leave in Saskatchewan, which allows for paid time off for an employee to receive a COVID vaccine. The amendment to The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are effective immediately.
