Saskatchewan farmers will see some enhanced benefits to agristability, retroactive to 2020.

Agriculture minister David Marit says the province has accepted federal proposals to remove the reference margin to the farm support program.

That could cost the province an extra 20 million dollars.

But he says the province has backed away from the proposed enhanced support level jump from 70 to 80 percent, saying the possible 10 million dollar price tag was too much.

Marit says he did request the federal government continue to offer 60 percent to the enhanced support level increase.

The programs are federal-provincial funded 60-40.

Marit made his comments after a virtual federal-provincial agriculture ministers meeting Thursday.
