YQR CEO excited about new direct flight opportunities

Starting June 24th, Regina and Saskatoon will have some new WestJet flights.

Twice a week, YQR will have direct flights to Kelowna, and Saskatoon will have non-stop service to Kelowna and Victoria.

James Bogusz with the Regina Airport Authority says the reason behind the move is they hope Canadians will invest their money to travel domestically since there’s no expectation they will travel internationally.

“If that is the case, then they’ll hopefully be looking at tourism opportunities,” said Bogusz. “Whether people want to come to Regina to visit us, whether they want to go to Kelowna, or other cities, to go and visit those cities. That’s really the hope, and that’s really what the expectation would be for the industry this year, is much more domestically focused.”

WestJet says in total, 11 new flights are being introduced across western Canada.
