NDP criticizes Sask. Party’s COVID-19 response

The NDP is calling on the Saskatchewan Party government to revamp its COVID-19 vaccine rollout strategy.

Opposition leader Ryan Meili says reduced health restrictions have been a serious mistake by the Moe government.

Premier Scott Moe says he has taken a balanced and measured response with vaccines being rolled out as quickly as possible.

He says Saskatchewan is leading the nation in delivering more vaccines per hundred thousand population than any other province.

Moe says all Saskatchewan can be proud of the vaccination plan underway.

The NDP is also blasting the Moe government over what it calls broken election promises in this week’s budget.

Finance critic Trent Wotherspoon points to higher taxes and failed promises to balance the budget and protect services.

Finance minister Donna Harpauer says the NDP has a duck and dodge plan, by calling for higher expenditures but no tax hikes and no deficit.

She says her budget outlines a comprehensive plan to fight the pandemic and reach a balanced budget in five years.
