A Regina man is facing several charges after an ongoing investigation led by the Regina Police Street Gang Unit.
Police were attempting to locate an 18-year-old man previously wanted for several alleged crimes such as attempted murder, robbery and aggravated assault. Finally on Tuesday night, officers observed the man leaving a residence on the 300 block of Pasqua Street in a cab, and then followed that cab until the 3500 block of Fifth Avenue, where the suspect fled the scene on foot.
After a brief chase, the suspect was arrested, and 2was found to have a .40 caliber handgun, fentanyl, bear spray and bladed weapons in his possession.
18-year-old Cree Morris from Regina faces 11 charges:
- Careless Use of Firearm,
- Possession of a Weapon (handgun) for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace,
- Possession of a Weapon (bear spray) for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace,
- Possession of a Weapon (machete) for a Purpose Dangerous to Public Peace,
- Possession of a Firearm, Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
- Possession of a Loaded, Restricted Firearm,
- Possession of a Firearm, Knowing its Serial Number has been Tampered With,
- Possession of a Firearm, Knowing it was Obtained in the Commission of a Criminal Offence,
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance (fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking, and
- 2 X Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Order.
Morris appeared in court on Wednesday morning.
