Michael Kram happy to see Regina’s air traffic control tower stay open

The air traffic control tower at the Regina International Airport will remain open, which is welcome news for many, including  Regina-Wascana Member of Parliament Michael Kram.

He said there’s been a lot of negativity towards NAV Canada for potentially closing the tower.

“It’s been 100 percent negative, the thought of losing our control tower and losing flights in and out of Regina, and so when I saw the announcement I was very happy, it shows what our community can do when we all pull together,” Kram said.

Some other towers remaining open that were also initially under review include Fort McMurray, Prince George and Whitehorse.

Kram is also happy to see those centres keep their towers.

“If Regina has a fully functional airport and control tower that’s good, but we need to have destinations to fly to, so I’m glad to learn that these places will be keeping their control towers open as well.”
