Another month, another grain movement record for CN Rail

CN Rail says the month of March marks the 13th consecutive month for record grain movement.

The director of sales and marketing, David Przednowek, says CN moved almost three million tons of grain last month to market.

“CN recorded it’s thirteenth consecutive month of record Canadian grain movement via carload in March, with 2.95 million tonnes shipped during the month,” said Przednowek. “That compares to the previous March record of 2.74 million tonnes set last year, and the three-year average of 2.47 million tonnes.”

Shednovik says the first three months of 2021 saw 8.2 million tons of grain moved to market on CN, beating the 2017 first quarter record by 1.2 million tons or 16 percent.

So far this crop year, CN grain movement is 19 percent ahead of the record set two years ago.
