Semi fire causing delays on Highway 1 near Maple Creek

RCMP say they, along with Maple Creek Fire crews on the scene of a semi fire Wednesday morning on the Trans-Canada Highway, about ten kilometres east of Maple Creek.

Police say the semi that caught fire is on the westbound right driving lane.

Motorists are now able to go past the scene in the left passing lane, but are asked to please use caution and slow to 60 km/hr as emergency responders are on scene.

There are no reported injuries.

It’s anticipated the right driving lane will be blocked for a significant period of time today until the semi can be removed.

On Wednesday afternoon, RCMP say the highway has completely reopened.
