Kyle Borsa eagerly awaits the CFL draft.
The University of Regina running back had his football career put on hold at the end of the 2018 season after he was suspended for a doping violation.
It is something Borsa isn’t hiding from as he says he bought an over-the-counter supplement at a Regina store without doing proper research as to what he was putting into his body.
“That was a tough time and although I had great supports, it was still me in my own head and I had to battle that.” Borsa said. “I’m happy to say I overcame that and happy that’s in the past.”
While he is aware of what the past holds, he is concentrating on the future and getting a chance at playing at the next level. It is something he knows he can do.
“I can play running back at the next level. I have to put on a couple pounds, which won’t be an issue.” Borsa said. ” If a team wants me to bump into the slot I can do that too, I’m perfectly comfortable doing that.”
He did turn some heads at the recent national combine when he ran the fastest 40 at 4.46 seconds while performing well in other areas. It was something that may have surprised those watching the combine, but it didn’t surprise
Being a Regina native, Borsa would love nothing more than to get a phone call from the Saskatchewan Roughriders on draft night which is May 4th.
“If I can land a spot there and establish myself on the team, that’d be great.” Borsa said. “People would have expectations, but I wouldn’t put much thought into it.”
The Riders have six selections in the 2021 CFL draft including the number two pick overall.
