For the first time since April 14, the province is reporting that new cases of COVID-19 are below the 200 level.
There are 189 new cases to report which combined with 291 recoveries puts the active case count at 2,305. The new cases are located in Far North West, 7; North West, 27; North Central, 6; North East, 2; Saskatoon, 81; Central West, 3; Central East, 10; Regina, 24; South West, 8; South Central, 7; and South East, 8. There are also 121 new variants of concern that have been identified.
There are also two new deaths. One is someone in their 70’s from the northwest zone while the other is someone in the 19 and under age group who died in February. The death is being reported upon completion of an investigation to determine if the cause was COVID-19. If the death is due to COVID-19, this person would be the second person 19 and under to die from the virus.
There are 174 people in hospital with 41 of those receiving intensive care.
The seven-day average of new cases is 226.
Almost 10,000 vaccines were delivered on Monday. Of the 9,924 that were handed out, Regina saw 3,289 and Saskatoon had 2,831
