Bedard’s hat-trick sends Canada to World U18 final

Connor Bedard continues to impress at the IIHF World Under-18 hockey championship in Texas.

The 15-year-old, who plays for the Regina Pats, had a hat-trick as Canada beat Sweden 8-1 to move into the gold medal game at the tournament for the first time since 2013.

Bedard has six goals and six assists and is tied with Russian Matvei Michkov for most points at the event.  The two players are forecasted to be the first two picks in the 2023 draft.  Eight of Bedard’s 12 points have come in the last two games.

The gold-medal game goes Thursday night with Canada either playing Russia or Finland.
