Seeding is advancing rapidly across southwest Saskatchewan.

The crops extension specialist in Swift Current, Shannon Chant, estimates about half the crop is in the ground.

She says soil moisture is relatively poor and most of the area needs rain.

Chant expects it will take a couple weeks to wrap up seeding in the southwest unless delayed by rain.
