Five new COVID-19 deaths in Saskatchewan; 223 new cases

The number of people that have died in Saskatchewan as a result of COVID-19 has hit 513 after five more deaths were announced by the province Thursday.

Two of the deaths were people aged 80 or over from the Regina and northwest zones, two were in their 70’s from the Far Northeast and Northcentral zone and one was in their 60’s from the Far Northeast zone.

There are 223 new cases that have been diagnosed.  The new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 7; Far North East, 9; North West, 15; North Central, 12; North East, 6; Saskatoon, 71; Central West, 8; Central East, 28; Regina, 24; South West, 5; South Central, 17; and South East, 15

The number of those in hospital is at 161 with 35 people in intensive care.

The seven-day daily average of new cases is 212.

On the vaccine front, 8,415 were delivered on Wednesday with the most being administered in Regina (1,832) and Saskatoon (1,404)

The age for vaccinations drops again on Friday to 23 and over with a variety of options available for you to get your first dose whether it be by visiting a pharmacy, attending a walk-in clinic or going through a drive-thru clinic.
