A legal fight over the Keystone XL Pipeline in the United States will include an amicus brief from the Saskatchewan government.

Justice Minister Gord Wyant says the province won’t be a full participant in the litigation case.

“While we’re not going to be participating as a full intervenor, we will be providing what’s called an amicus brief, which is a friend of the court,” said Wyant. “Just outlining what the financial implications to the economy are, as a result of the cancellation.”

The province joins 21 states in fighting US President Joe Biden’s decision to cancel the pipeline, which is intended to bring 830 thousand barrels of oil from Alberta and Montana down to Texas oil refineries.
