Hockey Canada bringing Esso Cup back to Prince Albert and keeping Centennial Cup in Estevan

Two of Hockey Canada’s national championships in 2022 will be played in Saskatchewan.

Hockey Canada announced Tuesday that Prince Albert will be the host city for the 2022 Esso Cup which is the national women’s under-18 championship.  The event was to be held in Prince Albert in both 2020 and 2021, but they were cancelled due to COVID-19.  The tournament is scheduled to run April 17-23, 2022

The national Junior “A” championship will still be played in Estevan.  It was announced in December of 2019 that the Centennial Cup would be played at Affinity Place, but with the 2020 event in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and the 2021 event in Penticton B.C being cancelled due to COVID-19, it was not known if Hockey Canada would go to one of those communities first.

The tournament is scheduled to go May 20-29, 2022.
