Sask. Stock Growers welcome federal initiative to build public trust in food production

The Saskatchewan Stock Growers are welcoming a federal initiative to raise public trust in Canada’s food system.

The federal government is providing $244,000 to the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity to develop tools to enable food producers to share their stories with consumers.

Stock Growers manager Chad McPherson says it is important to educate consumers about modern agriculture.

The federal investment will help create new content for a website called “Its Good Canada”, which profiles real farm families and food production.

Ottawa says consumer trust is essential for continued growth in the farming sector.
