Winter like weather continues to hit Saskatchewan, as the final workday before the May long weekend arrives.
Snowfall and Freezing Rain Warnings are in place for much of southern Saskatchewan.
What warning criteria you’re under depends on where you’re located.
Regina and Moose Jaw are both under Freezing Rain Warnings Friday morning.
Environment Canada says the freezing precipitation may change over to showers as temperatures increase.
Otherwise the precipitation will gradually taper off from west to east throughout the day as the system progresses to the northeast.
Areas north and northeast of Regina are under Snowfall Warnings , the weather office says total snowfall accumulations could be be in the 10 to 15 cm range by time the snow begins to taper off throughout the day.
Estimates from Thursday say around 20 cm’s of snow fell in higher elevations over the Cypress Hills, Swift Current saw mostly freezing rain, but did get just under five cm’s of snowfall.
Temperatures are expected to stay below normal in Regina for the entire long weekend, with a return to sunshine and more normal values on Tuesday.
