Regina Police complete largest fentanyl seizure in Regina’s history

The Regina Police Service says an investigation into illegal drug trafficking within the city has resulted in the largest seizure of fentanyl in Regina’s history.

The investigation, led by the RPS Drug Unit and assistance from their Crime Reduction Team and patrol members, uncovered more than 2,800 grams of fentanyl – a street value of over $1.1 million. Police say it’s enough for 28,000 doses.

Also seized were over 450 grams of cocaine, a stolen, loaded handgun, over $43,000 in Canadian money and additional items used to traffic drugs. The seized cocaine has a street value of $45,000.

Investigators completed enforcement action on May 26 when a total of seven drug search warrants were executed, including five at residences and two on vehicles. One home was in the Greens neighbourhood, two in the Glencairn area, one in Windsor Park and one in the Hawkstone area.

Three men from outside of the province face numerous charges as a result of this investigation.

Thirty-one-year-old Guleed Abdiaziz Warsame of Calgary, Alberta was charged with the following offences:
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl;
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine;
• Proceeds Over $5000; and
• Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Twenty-nine-year-old Yusuf Muse of Mississauga, Ontario was charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl;
• Proceeds Over $5000;
• Unsafe storage of a restricted firearm;
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
• Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition;
• Possession of a restricted weapon obtained by crime;
• Unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon;
• Obstruct police officer; and
• Possession of a forged document with intent.

Twenty-year-old Abbas Abdinour of Toronto, Ontario was charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl; and
• Proceeds over $5000.

All three individuals made their first court appearance on May 27.
