Balcarres man, Yorkton woman facing charges after traffic stop leads weapons offence in Regina

Police in Regina have arrested a Balcarres man and Yorkton woman after a traffic stop that led to a weapons offence investigation.

On Friday morning at roughly 4:30, police stopped a black mini-van at the corner of 4th Avenue and Princess Street in the city’s north central area.

Police observed several open liquor bottles inside of the vehicle, which led to the arrest of three people. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a sawed off rifle, ammunition and an undisclosed amount of meth, cocaine and fentanyl.

40-year-old Brendan Starr of Balcarres faces 12 charges, including three counts of trafficking, two counts of breach of probation, and possession of a loaded firearm.

24-year-old Janine Bear, of Yorkton, faces a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. A third suspect was released without charges.
