Alberta man drowns in Swift Current Creek outside of Shaunavon

Shaunavon RCMP responded to a drowning incident neat the hamlet of Simmie, which is about 300 kilometres west of Regina.

RCMP responded to a swimmer in distress call on Sunday afternoon at around 5:00 PM. It was reported that a 21-year-old man from Alberta had been swimming in the Swift Current Creek with friends when he jumped off of a bridge and did not return to the surface.

About two hours later, the man’s body was found and recovered. His family has been notified.

The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service is now investigating.
