The final leg of the journey that will see a 94 year-old Saskatchewan man, make the trek from Saskatoon to Regina on foot, will continue Tuesday.
Where’s Frank? Well on Tuesday, Frank Atchison will start at the top of the Lumsden hill and walk into town. It’s all in support of the Jim Pattison’s Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Atchison says he’s been a Shriner for over 50 years and has heard thousands of testimonies for the hospitals. Frank tells the story of a boy born with clubbed feet, who was told he’d never walk again and ended up at the Shriner’s Hospital. He says the boy is now a retired postman, who had a seven mile walk everyday for 35 years. Atchison says this shows just what can be done, and what the Shriner’s have done for so many children.
Frank’s walk kicked off on April 15th, he will complete his walk on June 15th, on his 95th birthday, and will receive his 50 year Shriners service pin at the WA WA Shriners of Saskatchewan Temple in Regina.
