Moose Jaw man anxiously awaits meeting birth father after surviving 60s scoop

The moment a Moose Jaw man has been waiting his whole life for, will have to wait a little bit longer.

60s Scoop survivor Tim Hadwen is looking to reconnect with his biological father 45 years after his birth.

Hadwen was hoping Saturday would be the day he finally met his father, but unfortunately he did not arrive in the city as scheduled.

Hadwen says he’s disappointed, but will continue to hold out hope.

“As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to sit here and wait still,” said Hadwen. “This is a moment that I’ve been waiting for 45 years.”

Despite the meeting not taking place, Hadwen says he is happy to share his story, adding many survivors never get the chance.

“My voice could be one of many who are lost out there, who need to come home,” said Hadwen. “There are so many people out there who don’t know who their biological family is.”

Hadwen’s path to reconnection started after his youngest son was diagnosed with Ogden Syndrome. Tim decided to dive into his family’s medical history and eventually discovered the identity of his birth parents.
