A dairy producer couple from Balgonie has been named Saskatchewan’s Outstanding Young Farmers for 2021.

Michael and Jessica Lovich own and operate Lovholm Holsteins, a 70 cow dairy that focuses on animal longevity, cow health and production.

Jessica Lovich says the concentration is on milk production and raising replacement heifers.

“We definitely focus on the production side of things to make sure the cows are producing effectively and efficiently,” said Lovich. “Our goal is to raise replacements for other farms, hoping that we have a little bit better genetics.”

She says the cattle sell across the country and overseas.

The dairy farm at Balgonie also hosts tours, particularly from urban groups from Regina.

They will represent the province at the national event that will be held virtually on December 2nd and 3rd.
