Riders sign one, cut one on opening day of training camp

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed defensive back Mike Stevens.

Stevens, who comes from Charlotte, North Carolina, last played with the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL, playing in five games and recording 23 tackles, two interceptions and one sack before the league was shut down by COVID-19.

Prior to that, Stevens attended CFL training camp with Calgary in 2019.

Stevens played 35 gamed for North Carolina State in College, making 79 tackles — including three tackles for a loss — along with 18 passes defended, three interceptions and one sack.

The Riders have also announced they have released American receiver Xavier Ubosi.
