FCC offers support to drought-stricken producers

Farm Credit Canada is taking steps to support producers in Western Canada facing drought.

The senior vice president of operations, Darren Howden of Regina, says FCC will consider short term credit options and deferral of principal payments to reduce pressure on those facing extremely dry weather.

It will be on a case by case basis.

Howden says FCC is prepared to take steps to return producers to a solid financial footing.

Howden says the drought ranges from Manitoba to B.C., with some pockets in Manitoba much worse than Saskatchewan.
