Death inquest launched for man shot and killed during 2019 altercation with Regina Police

A public death inquest for 41 year-old Geoffrey Morris has been launched.

Morris, was shot and killed after an altercation with police on May 4th of 2019 in Regina.

Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999 states that the Chief Coroner shall hold an inquest into the death of a person who dies while an inmate at a jail or a correctional facility, unless the coroner is satisfied that the person’s death was due entirely to natural causes and was not preventable.

The inquest will be August 9 to 13 at the Atlas Hotel on Albert Street in Regina’s south end.
