Off-duty RCMP officer facing two charges of impaired driving

An RCMP officer with 15 years of service has been suspended with pay after being charged with two counts of impaired driving.

Kevin Granrude, a constable with the Swift Current Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan, was arrested on the evening of July 27 after a complaint was received about an impaired driver in the town of Waldeck, about 20 kilometers northeast of Swift Current.

He was held overnight in custody and released the next day.  Later that day, Swift Current Rural RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle driving erratically on the Trans-Canada Highway.  The vehicle was located with the driver having a roadside screening test performed on him. That test failed resulting in Granrude being arrested.

RCMP say in both incidents Granrude was not on duty and was not in a police vehicle.

Granrude appeared in court Thursday in Swift Current and will be in court again next month.

Besides being suspended with pay, Granrude will also be the subject of a code of conduct investigation.
