SaskPower more than doubles funding for farmyard line relocation

SaskPower has more than doubled the funding for the farmyard line relocation program for the coming year.

Media Consultant Scott McGregor, says SaskPower is increasing the funding from two to $5-million for the subsidized service.

He says it’s enough financing for about 300 projects.

Under the program, SaskPower contributes 75 percent of the cost of moving power lines or putting them underground.

Farmers pay a maximum of $2,000

In 2020, there were 17 power line contacts involving farm machinery in farmyards.
